Founded in 2017 by SpaceX and Tesla veterans, Robert Rose and Juerg Frefel, Reliable made aviation history in 2021 when it flew a popular cargo plane, the Cessna 208 Caravan, with no one onboard in Hollister, CA. The Cessna was remotely piloted from a control center 50 miles away in the company's headquarters.
Reliable is building a dual-use, safety-enhancing flight system that automates all phases of operation, including including taxi, takeoff, enroute, and landing. The Reliable Autonomy System can integrate onto any aircraft and with existing airport infrastructure without requiring modifications — transformation without disruption.
Reliable is strengthening the mobility backbone of the U.S. military by building and deploying a commercial aircraft with dual-use autonomy in the Indo-Pacific region for the U.S. Air Force. Reliable will demonstrate continuous operations without a pilot onboard, enabling rapid, forward-deployed logistics operations even in contested environments. Additionally, Reliable will deliver safety-enhancing autonomy to regional air cargo operations in the Four Corners region of the U.S. through the FAA’s Advanced Air Mobility Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). In collaboration with the City of Albuquerque, Reliable will build connectivity for small towns and rural communities with the first-ever commercial operation of regional air cargo service by a large UAS in the United States.
The Reliable Autonomy System addresses the leading causes of fatal accidents —Loss of Control and Controlled Flight into Terrain — through an "always-on" autopilot and a sophisticated Detect and Avoid system utilizing Radar and ACAS X technology. The Federal Aviation Administration has accepted Reliable’s full certification basis, plans, and means of compliance. Reliable's vision is a new era of aviation where autonomous flight becomes the foundation for universal access, unprecedented safety, and global prosperity.
“Reliable Robotics is on a mission to deliver certified autonomous flight systems that make aviation safer, more accessible, and economically viable.”
